Super Retina XDR OLED display

The biggest upgrade and the most noticeable upgrade that we’re experiencing this year is an OLED display finally making its way on these iPhones. An apple iPhone 12 Pro has Super Retina XDR OLED display. This is brighter, has better colors, higher contrast ratios and higher resolution. These Super Retina XDR OLED displays are on all the smartphones in the iPhone 12 series including the iPhone 12 mini. Moreover, this is much more significant. It’s that new ceramic shield in these screens. It’s tech where Apple has supposedly grown very small ceramic crystals inside the glass layer to make these screens way more durable. And it, according to Apple, has four times better drop performance than previous screens on iPhones.

Of the features of the display that are available here, we cannot summarily convey the review of the display without adding some features that are present here. They are; Dolby Vision, Wide color gamut, True-tone, HDR10, 800 nits (typ), and 1200 nits (peak). Let it not be a shock though if you were waiting for a 120Hz refresh rate, knowing that Apple didn’t bring it in anyway. I mean, they did not include a charging brick either, what is it Apple cannot do? But to be fair, high refresh rates and the like are not really of concern to the masses. In fact, more often than not folks only recognize it’s there when they are told it’s there. So then yes! iPhone 12 Pro does not have a 120Hz refresh rate display.

New cameras

There are two camera lenses on the back of the Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max which look familiar to the lenses of iPhone 12 Pro. These consist of the identical wide camera (12 MP, f/1.6, 26mm, 1.4µm, dual pixel PDAF, OIS) and an ultra-wide camera (12 MP, f/2.4, 120˚, 13mm, 1/3.6) but there is no telephoto camera in this unit. Zooming into it, there’s the 12 MP, f/2.0, 52mm (telephoto), 1/3.4″, 1.0µm, PDAF, OIS, 2x optical zoom lens that introduces us to disparity. And even further out, there is a TOF 3D LIDAR scanner (depth).

The LIDAR scanner that is LIDAR here is quite different specifically for the purpose as it helps in depth mapping. Gone are the days where one can only take pictures using the portrait feature but in the night mode. The iPhone 12 Pro breaks all records on the quality of the video that can be shot by a smartphone without the need for additional professional gear. And concerning the front-facing cameras, we have got dual 12 MP, f/2.2, 23mm (wide), 1/3.6″ and SL 3D (depth/biometrics sensor). It is possible to record video using this camera up to 4k at 24/30/60 frames per second, similar to how the main camera offers the same quality, isn’t it amazing!

Apple A14 Bionic (5 nm

This smartphone is equipped with Apple’s Deep Fusion computational photography, HDR3 and Dolby vision, which looks almost cinematic. Essentially, the iPhone 12 Pro will provide the user with video and photo images that appear as though they have gone through a professional editing suite. The software and hardware have been made ready to deliver optimally the 5G capabilities. The Apple A14 Bionic (5 nm) chipset is a five-nanometer transistor, which is the chip that is fittest for any smartphone of this generation and beyond. Amd all of the iPhone 12 series models have the same chipset. Apple A14 Bionic (5 nm) was seen on the new iPad air which is equipped with a GPU that is claimed by Apple to be 50% stronger than any smartphone’s graphics. Of course, the 12 Pro runs on the most current version of the iOS known as iOS 14.1.

MagSafe accessories

Apple has introduced MagSafe which is a combination of magnets, a magnetometer, and an NFC reader. It offers a combination of mounting accessories and a charging system. With MagSafe on the iPhone 12 Pro, you will be able to properly align your phone and the wireless charger or Snap on a MagSafe case, wallet, or both. Apple brought back MagSafe as a way for these new iPhones to magnetically lock onto a wireless charger or other accessories, which is cool. Basically, MagSafe is an intelligent system of magnets that connect accessories and a whole new way.
